The technology we use every day can pose a threat if not used properly, especially in the case of mobile security. We use our phones constantly throughout the day. This could be primarily due to work with emails, calls and messaging or it could be for personal entertainment such as using social apps or watching videos. Regardless, the average time spent online per week in America has risen from 9.4 hours in 2000 to 23.6 hours in 2018. The percent who are accessing the Internet from mobile devices has gone from 23 percent in 2010 to 84 percent in 2018.
This significant jump does not come without consequences. The mobile devices we use aren’t completely secure. Both Android and iOS devices are prone to viruses and can be hacked by professionals to obtain your personal information. In 2018, Android and iOs combined had 446 vulnerabilities. While Android is known for being less secure due to its open-source code, they both have their vulnerabilities.
